Little did we know but the Town Hall has crash-landed right on the Wicked Witch of the East! Poof!—she’s gone, squashed flat under the weight of civic pride. But fear not, the masons swooped in like heroes in a fairy tale, carting her away while patching up the chaos. They’ve been hard at work, filling in the foundation where steel trusses used to be for a sturdy new foundation that’s tougher than a dragon’s hide.

By week’s end, that foundation will be sealed tight. Next week, Doc Gilmore will be filling in the earth around the building to keep it standing tall. A gleaming shipment of sawed granite has just arrived, ready to clad the foundation in style fit for a castle.
